Mvse vs pregnancy shapewear
There are shapewear which are made for compression and those which are for smoothing & lightly contouring the body underneath the clothes one wears.
While easier on the body, shapewear isn’t necessarily harmful to wear during pregnancy, as they are merely smoothing & give an uplifted shape to the loose flabby muscles. But you may find it to be more uncomfortable now in pregnancy than you did before. Most women don’t like the tightness or firmness felt around the growing belly that tends to happen with shapewear :)
Besides, typically shapewear is made in nylon stretchy fabric, to give the contoured toned look to the body. The more the nylon content, the more shapely the outfit will make you look. Such fabric thus tends to be non-porous, non-breathable, itchy and sticky, making it very uncomfortable to wear in pregnancy, especially during the later months.
Is Mvse a shapewear?
The tummy control belt is meant to hold together the flabby tummy/ abdomen muscles in place to give one a shapely look without actually compressing the stomach in. The patented 8" high waist tummy control band simply controls and contours the torso area without actually pressing on the belly while the stretchy fabric of the pants gives an uplifted and sculpted look to the hips, thighs and butt. One can move about freely in these high waisted pants without feeling like someone has sucked the air out of you leaving you breathless and feeling pinched.
Is Mvse a shapewear safe for pregnancy?
While Mvse tummy control pants are more shapewear than compression pants, owing to the 8" high tight elastane belt used for the tummy control in the high waist, they are NOT suitable for wearing in pregnancy. The snugness created around the torso makes these Mvse high waist pants difficult to pull up and wear around the pregnancy belly.
Post delivery, just like postpartum belts, one can wear Mvse tummy control high waist pants for core support while also enjoying the shapewear feature offered by these high waist pants. We recommend wearing Mvse high waist pants once your doctor has given you the go ahead to wear postpartum belts and NOT BEFORE that.
So what shapewear to wear in pregnancy?
If you are looking for shapewear to wear in maternity, look for ones which are more flexible and forgiving around the belly. In pregnancy the last thing we are looking to do is to tuck and hide away the belly :)
Pregnancy shapewear is typically designed to offer compression like shaping around the hips, bottom, and/ or legs. Usually they would end below the pregnancy belly, but if you are looking for some support for the growing pregnancy belly, then over the belly options can be considered, which offer bump and back support without compressing or being tight around the pregnancy bump (can try pregnancy bottoms from our sister brand Mamacouture).
Some options that can be considered are pregnancy leggings and pregnancy track pants made in nylon stretchable fabrics which offer a snug and well toned look to the body.
